The virtues of Aloe vera have been recorded for thousands of years by many ancient civilizations, including Egypt, Persia, Greece, India and Africa. Aloe, is native to East and South Africa and is grown in most subtropical and tropical locations, including Latin America and the Caribbean.
The name was derived from the Arabic alloeh meaning 'bitter' because of the bitter liquid found in the leaves. It is also known as 'lily of the desert', the 'plant of immortality', and the 'medicine plant'. In 1500 B.C. Egyptians recorded use of the herbal plant in treating: burns, infections & parasites. The fresh gel was used by Cleopatra to keep her skin soft and young.
Aloe was used by the Ancient Greeks, Arabs and Spaniards and is still used by hunters in Africa to reduce perspiration and body scent. The beneficial use of Aloe Vera on animals is well documented from as far back as 1750BC.

Studies done in cats suffering from feline leukemia virus (FeLV) have shown that internal usage of aloe vera can help in the treatment of the disease.
    Aloe Vera can help in:

  • Skin Problems: Conditions such as allergies, abscesses, fungal infections, pyoderma, and many types of dermatitis. The oral gel can be given in the food, and the topical varieties applied directly to the skin. Aloe Vera will decrease inflammation as well as helping to remove dead cells and discharges. It will aid the healing of wounds.

  • Wounds and Burns: Aloe Vera can aid the natural healing processes

  • Digestive System: Helping conditions of the digestive system, particularly where inflammation is involved. Conditions such as stomatitis, gingivitis, and oral ulceration can all be helped with Aloe Vera. The most useful preparations for use in the mouth are those that are spray based and the gelly. More serious conditions such as vomiting and diarrhoea also often respond to oral administration of Aloe Vera Gel combined with bland diets. **Always seek veterinary advice if symptoms persist or get worse**

  • Immune System: The oral administration of Aloe Vera can be useful in chronic immunological problems such as asthma, hay fever, rhinitis, arthritis, etc.

  • Ear and Eye Problems: For common ear conditions such as otitis externa where infection and inflammation develop in the vertical and horizontal ear canals. These are often mixed infections of mites, bacteria, fungi, and yeasts and may also involve foreign bodies such as grass seeds. Aloe Vera gel, Gelly and in combination with Bee Propolis can be very useful in treating this condition. Always ensure that a vet sees the ear so that causes such as foreign objects and tumours can be dealt with if present. Eye conditions are potentially more serious and should always be examined by a vet. A dilute solution of Aloe Vera can be helpful for conjunctivitis and keratitis.

Aloe vera drinks are liquid dietary foods consisting of the stabilised inner leaf gel of the plant which contains over 75 known nutrients, in a natural balance that helps to maintain all the signs of a healthy animal. Suitable for all, the liquids are readily absorbed into normal feeds although for cats it might be preferable to be added slowly in their wet food or water The drinks have a tonic effect, maintaining a healthy appetite, suppleness of joints and revitalising energy levels. Aloe Vera also has a soothing effect, acting to reduce your pet's sensitivity to external irritants

Forever Freedom (1 litre)

Aloe Veterinary Formula

Aloe Vera Heat Lotion (118g)

Particularly useful for its soothing action on joints, ligaments and muscles. In animals it is essential that it is applied directly to the skin and not onto the hair.



Aloe Vera Gelly (118ml)

Can be used as a topical preparation to soothe skin irritations, including minor cuts, stings and abrasions. It is a thick gel with anti-fungal and anti-bacterial properties which lubricates and soothes wounded tissue in sensitive areas. Its highly penetrative properties can also help reduce excessive 'proud flesh' during the healing process and ease soreness caused by bit-rubbing.



Aloe Propolis Crème (113g)

One of the most popular products for humans, this rich soothing cream is equally beneficial for animals. Propolis is a natural agent used by bees to maintain the health of the hive. A product that not only calms minor irritation and infections, but moisturises while it works.


Aloe Liquid Soap (473 ml)

Rich in soothing Aloe Vera, this 'no tears' formula is excellent for bathing small or large animals. Equally suited for cleaning delicate skin types prior to applying other products and as it is pH controlled it will clean without irritation. It is also suitable for those with skin disorders. Aloe-Jojoba Shampoo (237ml)

It has stabilised Aloe Vera gel, the main ingredient in this pH-balanced formulation, which it is bactericidal and fungicidal to assist in the removal of flakes due to dandruff. Its enzymatic activity helps to dissolve dead cells and helps with the restoration of healthy tissue while the deep penetrating abilities of the stabilised Aloe Vera gel get deep into the skin and work beneath the surface to help combat infection and revitalise tissue. Combined with the moisturising and conditioning properties of jojoba oil, it will leave your pets' coats and tails tangle-free and shining with health.

This high in aloe, refreshing toothgel is ideal for your cat's teeth. Reducing the build-up of plaque and tartar on the teeth, while gently soothing the gum areas, it has a low-abrasiveness factor and leaves teeth sparkling clean. Its formula includes only natural peppermint and spearmint flavouring while its principal ingredient is Stabilised Aloe Vera gel to which bee proppolis is added. The combination has not only antibacterial properties for fighting plaque and keeping the breath fresh but it also benefits the gums and the delicate inner lining of the mouth. It is also good for bleeding gums and mouth ulcers and can be apllied directly if the kitty is really fussy and doesn't like brushing.
