Some Facts about Cats!

From the very early times since cats decide to live with humans we have looked at them for inspiration. Cats were sacred creatures in ancient Egypt and we can understand why the Egyptians believed so.
Cats are full of mysteries and knowledge. So here are some facts that you might not know about cats…

  • Not many would would know the feline origins of the question mark.
It is known that cats use tail signals to indicate their changing moods & perceptions. Ancient civilizations accepted that cats had special knowledge and these signals were considered important & were incorporated into the earliest forms of calligraphy.
So the classical curled over tail of the curious cat is still to be found today in most of our written texts as the symbol used to express a question ...????

  • Have you ever wonder why your cat seems to sit sometimes in the middle of nowhere and suddenly she might start purring, with her eyes half closed and even at times, seems to rock slightly? Or why the young and inexperienced cats will become all of the sudden overload with some kind of "charge" and they'll start dashing madly all over the place?
Well, apparently some cats are able to experience a kind of localized force field or meridian in certain areas from which they seem to get some pleasure. Dr Peter Williams who heads the Department of Applied Aesthetics at Rudkin College in Dallas, Texas, believes that in those areas, which he calls them Points of Harmonic Resonance, the cats can derive some power from them.
This might explain why cats seem to sit in the most unexpected places. Also purring at same time may it be just a way of channeling that energy or a way for the cat to mimic the harmonic point's vibration & to receive a kind of substitute benefit....
  • Another behaviour that is often being misunderstood by the humans is when the cat brings dead or nearly dead prey back to the center of their territory (our home). We might not appreciate this token from our cat as we don't usually eat mice or frogs or whatever else we might find in the middle of the kitchen but for the cat this is something quite normal as some believe that she simply makes a reciprocal gesture - leaving freshly killed food in return for the food they have been given by their owners. The cat appreciates the fact that we feed them and look after them (although there are other theories that are trying to explain this kind of behaviour).
